"The difficult thing about graphic design is that if you make things with the intention of making 'correct decisions' it often turns out to be surprisingly boring design. Product design or interior design are large limited to concrete things like ease of use, durability, cost and so on, but if you compare graphics to that, it´s free from those physical intentions and the question of whether you are affecting peoples´s feelings and being interesting loom large. If you do design according to the text book, it might turn out not being wrong, but you can´t avoid it not being particularly attractive. On the other hand, if your interpretation of the theme and approach are all muddled up, that mix can be very attarctive, and you´re more likely to produce a very functional graphic design in the end."
"The essence of graphic design is creating a clear image with layout untroubled by unstable shapes or confusion in proportions"
